Process Work: City of Bend logo
I researched existing logos online: the brand's current logo, logos for businesses in the area, and logos for cities with a similar audience. I also researched the history of the city and some of the features that make it remarkable.
I made word lists to generate ideas for shapes and themes.
Loose sketching helped solidify my ideas and visualize how they can translate into a logo.
The first concept Is based on the Deschutes river water.
I explored an alpine tree wordmark.
This concept began as a snowman character and evolved into a cattle brand lettermark.
Having visited Bend multiple times, the smell of juniper trees is a lingering memory.
The winning concept is a sporty logo featuring Mt. Bachelor.
The brand book establishes rules for use of the logo and visual theme.
